Firewise
The firewise program is a national program that strives to preserve wilderness aspects of urban communities and to make coexistence safer. Our local program is run by Portland Fire and Lake Oswego Fire. It is a community based designation that indicates a community has been assessed as to wildfire risk and has a plan for mitigation. This is especially important for homes located in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI). Assessments are done at both the individual house level, and the community level.
